Successful Socio-Environmental Processes Protecting Urban Ecosystems Facing Climate Change

By VLADISLAV CHERNIY, The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy

Natural Planet Foundation is non-governmental organisation from Colombia that attempts to protect the environment through special programs and projects that aimed at educational institutions, government agencies, promote rational use of natural resources, species in danger of extinction as well as preserve the quality of life.

“NPF does educational courses which are not theoretical, but aimed to achieve the goal of having practical part: that is go out to the nature, go out to the park and explore the variety of nature and main existence of the nature, because most of the time. For the most time the people of the cities are disconnected from resources what are you using and what recourses are coming from. The people that are educated will bring these notion and experiences with them to where they come from, to  the companies they work for or to the local communities and it will become like a snowball effect that keeps rolling and rolling.”

“Speaking of Cultural Diplomacy, Colombia has a great variety of areas and cultures within the country. It is important to include the communities, because they all have culture and they all have ways of doing things.”
